Why Jeffreality?

In the early '90s, I started keeping a rough folder of notes, sketches, and ideas for different things. They ranged from sketches for clothing to architectural designs to concepts for websites. I've been wanting to build an application that I could use to categorize and organize these ideas (even if the idea wasn't that great, it might help me come up with something better in the future, or it could be used as a small element of a bigger idea).

I also wanted to put up all of these different ideas and give people the chance to rate and comment on them, so I can get some feedback on what's good, and what's total crap. Sometimes when I get an idea, I'll get *really* excited, and start developing out something that just doesn't make too much sense (and waste a ton of time in the process)...although I'm considered amusing at parties (according to my so-called friends) when I'm animatedly presenting my next idea.

So, basically, this site was designed to help me organize my random ideas, put them in front of a public audience, and have people help bring me back out of "Jeffreality"...

Yes. It's a cry for help.

Aren't you worried about people stealing these ideas?

Well, here's the thing. I have *so* many ideas and concepts and little projects, and I only get so far with each of them before I get distracted and move on to something else. With this site, they can all live a life of their own. I might go back and pull up an old idea and resurrect it, or someone might see one and ask me to elaborate, or something new might require pieces of an old one, or, when I'm talking to someone, I'll refer to an idea and tell them to come here...

If you steal an idea, and it's easy enough to just pick up and run with -- let me know about it. Think of these ideas as 'email-ware'. I'm hoping, if you want to use one of these, you'll let me collaborate and help turn it into something even better.

Hey! There's already something that does...

Yeah, I know. Ideas (in their larval stage) are usually not very unique. It's once they get built upon and more fleshed out that they become unique. If there's something "like" an idea of mine, let me know so I can link to it. I'm just trying to capture my streams of thought when they happen -- and I love seeing how different people execute things that I imagine...whether they did it before I imagined it or not. :-)
