I have a concept for an alternate reality game that would require some *serious* work from some talented people. Working backwards, I decided that the people I need to help with this would have to be able to manage teams of people, think very strategically, and be very creative in designing and managing intrigue. The best "types" of people for this would be GM or DMs.
To recruit them, I came up with the idea to have a website letting people brag about how good they are, and see what they can do about getting other people to support their claims. This would give me a good base of people to recruit from, and give me better information than someone saying that they want to be one (or have been) with little/no experience.
I'm planning on advertising with some popular webcomics (depending on the cost) and posting to Craigslist (as well as handing out flyers at Golden Apple and other comic book shops) to get some attention and see what sort of traffic I can drive to the site.
Whether this becomes a useful resource or an award site in the future is dependent on how well it's taken by the target audience. If it gets to that point, I'll probably pass off management to someone else who would be interested (for example, a group running a major gaming convention).
I wonder if FASA has anything like this? |
