Opening up cereal, I was thinking of all the waste -- cardboard box, plastic wrap, milk carton. I thought it'd be neat to have a real "green grocer"/gold rush style "dry goods" market, where you could pick up burlap sacks ($4 deposit) and get dry goods, or use glass jars and get wet food/liquids (like milk, juice, etc.) If you used that store exclusively, you'd just wash out the jars or return the sacks, and your only garbage would be compost...
Then again, I need my McDonalds. Who's got the time for all that work? :-)
